Emma Hardy will be at Micamera to sign the very last copies of Permissions
published by Gost in November 2022
Permissions is the first monograph by British photographer Emma Hardy. The white letters are embossed on the green hard cover of a classic, elegant object.
Turning the pages, we discover a tender document of motherhood and childhood, love and yearning, and leaving home. The work is imbued with a feeling of nostalgia; if childhood is “a time when both language and action were fresh and not yet tired” (as Alice Zoo writes in the afterword), we have this strange feeling of missing something that is still there, still present.
The images are distilled from Hardy’s personal archive and spanning over a period of 20 years – during which she began pursuing a successful career as a photographer, while raising three children.
