Booksigning: Home – Bruna Ginammi

April 18 @ 18:30 - 21:00

Tuesday April 18 from 6.30 pm
Bruna Ginammi will be at Micamera to launch her latest book:
Home (a+mbookstore, 2022)

In February 2019, I entered the Rosarno camp in Reggio Calabria and carefully photographed the dwellings built by African labourers. They were in a camp provided by their employers, without any form of assistance, shelter or services.
‘Home’ shows how traditional African architecturincredibly manages to adapt, especially in adverse environmental conditions, while maintaining originality, creativity and, above all, great dignity.
A concept of balance that, far from an aesthetic principle, is consistent with an intimate order and a harmonious unity of parts. This seems to me the best response to the evidently brutal condition in which it has to exist. For me, it was a matter of showing the dignity of the human being that prevails even in the cruellest and most adverse circumstances.  – Bruna Ginammi
