More than forty years have passed since Joan Fontcuberta and Pere Formiguera accidentally discovered the archives of German zoologist Peter Ameisenhaufen. Its contents were extraordinary: incredible and unknown animals, all described and photographed in detail, accompanied by field notes, X-rays and photographs taken both in their natural habitat and in the laboratory.
Fauna is the presentation of that archive. The exhibition has been shown in Natural History Museums around the world and now arrives in Pavia at the Kosmos Museum, enriched with photographs related to their specimens.
On this occasion, Mimesis is releasing the first Italian edition of the book, which includes some previously unpublished photographs and will be premiered by Micamera in the presence of the author – Joan Fontcuberta – and the cercopithecus visible on the cover.
