Launch and booksigning: Francesca Todde — IUZZA Goliarda Sapienza

September 10 @ 18:30 - 20:00

September 10 @ 18:30 20:00

On Tuesday September 10, Francesca Todde will be at Micamera to talk about her book IUZZA Goliarda Sapienza, recently released by Départ pour l’Image.

Goliarda Sapienza was a writer, an actress and a revolutionary woman. She was born in Sicily in 1924, so this year marks the 100th anniversary of her birth. The new and beautiful book by Francesca Todde, IUZZA, is dedicated to her life, her work, her story.

IUZZA is Goliarda Sapienza’s nickname, since she was a child. Francesca Todde has traced and studied her story, letters and personal documents (which she was able to access thanks to her widower Angelo Pellegrino). IUZZA is an adventure that bears witness to the journey of a photographer who immersed herself in the life experience and struggles of another artist, a woman who chose writing as her means of expression. Francesca Todde transforms words into images, inner landscapes and atmospheres into photographs, inviting us to an intimate journey. IUZZA is a special book; as Todde writes, a night sea crossing in search of Goliarda Sapienza.
