Giovanna Calvenzi and Renata Ferri will be at Micamera to launch

Le cinque vite di Lisetta Carmi (The Five Lives of Lisetta Carmi) is the new, expanded and updated edition of the passionate biography written by journalist and photography scholar Giovanna Calvenzi, first published in 2013. Calvenzi composes a multi-voice narrative in which the words of Lisetta herself alternate with the testimonies of those who knew her. In order to give an account of the complexity of her figure, the project involves those who had the good fortune to accompany her during the nodal and special moments of her life: her mother Maria Pugliese, Barbara Alberti, Luciano D’Alessandro, Paolo Ferrari, Clara Mantica and Daniele Segre. The story is accompanied by a splendid photographic apparatus of 66 black and white and colour images.

Giovanna Calvenzi has been photo editor in the editorial staff of several Italian magazines. In 1998 she was artistic director of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles, in 2002 “guest curator” of Photo España in Madrid and in 2014, with Laura Serani, artistic delegate of the Mois de la Photo in Paris. She has taught photography history and photo editing in Milan and Bologna and carries out an intense study activity on contemporary photography. Since 2013 she has been in charge of the Gabriele Basilico Archive.
She has curated and published several exhibitions and books.

Renata Ferri is a journalist and photo editor-in-chief of Io Donna, Corriere della Sera’s women’s magazine.
She previously directed the photographic production of Contrasto.
She edits editorial and exhibition projects for individual authors and collectives and has always dedicated herself to teaching.
Member of numerous juries of Italian and international photography awards.
