Una raya es una idea. Del papel salta un tigre. De sus tintas un enigma. De la historia un fotolibro.
Meet founder Santiago Escobar-Jaramillo at Micamera on Friday, July 21 – 7pm
RAYA EDITORIAL is a Colombian imprint focused on thinking, editing, designing, and publishing photobooks. “A photobook is read like a novel, observed like a movie,” says Horacio Fernández. It is through the turning of pages that the photos bear the weight of the narrative. It opens up the possibility for the reader to experience a story through images and the interplay that these images can create: rhythms, pauses, dialogues, contrasts, action-reaction, surprises, climaxes, changes in temperature, temporality, color, and emotions.
At RAYA EDITORIAL, we are interested in understanding the photobook as an object-book-experience, where materials, textures, forms, and layers come together as a unified response to the unique universe of each project. That’s why the editing and design work is done collaboratively, with the participation of the authors in collective sessions called Editing Tables.
