The space we inhabit: Manenti, Catanese, Fridlyand

May 15 @ 18:30 - 20:00

May 15 @ 18:30 20:00

Wednesday May 15 at 6.30pm
Ruth Lauer Manenti, Melissa Catanese and Jenia Fridlyand will be at Micamera for a talk on photography as a metaphor of the space we inhabit.

From Ruth Lauer Manenti’s intimate and introspective exploration of the private space and its connections with life and loss ( I Imagined It Empty) to Catanese’s conceptual approach offering a wider view on human civilization in a world suspended between uncertain futures and the aftermath of its past (The Lottery) the talk will take the cue from these two complementary approaches to deal with the broader subject of how we can use images to make sense of the world around us.

Moderator will be Jenia Fridlyand, chair of the Image Threads/Penumbra Foundation Long Term Photobook Program in New York, and author of Entrance to Our Valley.

Three authors, three books: one is brand new, one is almost out of print, one is a classic in its third reprint. Here they are:
