DEANNA TEMPLETON (Huntington Beach, CA, 1969)
Milo, Huntington Beach, CA 2015
Born 1969 in Huntington Beach, California, Deanna Templeton grew up in the suburban sprawl of Orange County and spent her early years going to any and all punk shows she could in Los Angeles. Her mother bought her the first camera in 1985 and this was the start of her photographic career.
Largely self-taught, she started in 2002 making a series of self published ‘zines called “Blue Kitten Photos, one, two, and three.” Since then she has released Scratch my name on your arm (Schunck, 2010), The Swimming Pool (UM YEAH ARTS 2016), One Picture Book Two #23 : Love You (Nazraeli Press, 2020), What She Said (MACK, 2021) and the books published together with husband Ed Templeton.
She has shown her photographs in galleries and museums worldwide – in 2023 her series What She Said was exhibited at SFMOMA.
She lives and works in Huntington Beach with Ed Templeton.
