FILIPPO BARBERO (Montecchio Emilia, Reggio Emilia, 1992)
Untitled (from Borderland, 2018-2023)
All things in life that once existed tend to recreate themselves.
Borderland is the act of my self aimed at an attempt to reappropriate an experience that has determined and structured me from an early age. This work is expressed in several concomitant, successive and heterogeneous aspects of each other: it is a place, a passage of age, a set of people, a way of life, critical thinking, a flow of memories, betrayed expectations and potential ideas. For me here, in this land of a small hill town in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, everything is borderline, and it is precisely this dimension of indefiniteness that drives me to a continuous search for the traces of a time that I have not lived enough or perhaps that I have lived too much. My past mixes with the present and suggests future steps.
