His mysterious photographs, often taken at dusk or at night, focus on the interaction between the natural landscape and man-made structures. Kenna’s works have been exhibited in the United States, Europe, Australia and Japan and are present in various permanent collections, such as: the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris; the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague; the National Gallery of Art in Washington; and The Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In the preface, Ruth Bernhard describes Kenna’s prints as “exquisitely seductive spiritual experiences, akin to poetry and music.” An essay by Peter C. Bunnell describes Kenna’s formation and evolution, giving us an in-depth introduction to the 130 images, representative of the two decades between 1974 and 1994.
