A facsimile of the original published in 1960 by Rütten & Loening, this volume contains the photographs taken by a very young Alvermann, who secretly entered Algeria with the intention of documenting the uprisings of the Algerian people in their attempt to liberate themselves from French colonialism.
The images, inspired in their composition by Russian cinema, come thick and fast, now juxtaposed, now full-page, bringing to light the bodies and faces of the protagonists in this story of the search for freedom.
