‘Another Country’ offers a fresh and much-needed overview of British documentary photographic production in recent decades.
The sequence of images, varied in style and language, is curated by Gerry Badger, a well-known writer and photography critic. Organised in chronological order, the photographs are divided into chapters aimed at highlighting a particular historical and social period by juxtaposing the work of renowned authors with the research of semi-unknown photographers, with some accompanying texts written by Badger himself and other authors.
More than 160 photographers are present in the publication, among them: Bert Hardy, Lee Miller, Bill Brandt, Nigel Henderson, Don McCullin, Jane Bown, Yinka Shonibare, Maud Sulter, Nadav Kander, Tom Hunter and Chloe Dewe Matthews.
