As it is. Nothing more. RInko Kawauchi imposes herself not to pretend anything in this sequence, which brings her back to her initial themes: her family themes, the environment around her.
The only desire is to tell us about life as it is. To tell the truth.
The course of a river and the changes in light through the seasons accompany the birth of his daughter, her first steps, her entry into the world.
It is an apparently simple world, that of the photographer, made of small luminous details. Small spiders, a bowl of rice, the little head of her newborn daughter, a small hand indicating a spider’s web.
The lifestyle promulgated by Shintoism, the ethnic religion of the Japanese people, makes its way, again, through the pages of the photographer’s latest book, preaching that no subject is too small or trivial to be taken into consideration. Everything makes sense just by being the way it is, it is then the responsibility of the viewer to wonder what is happening or what will happen.
The texts included are only in Japanese, a complex, almost exclusive choice. As if Kawauchi had no voice except in his mother tongue, and any translation would not be able to sustain the depth of the flow of thoughts.
