Catalog of the first-ever anthology of Irish artist Richard Mosse, ‘Displaced’ the possibilities of documentary photography today, between recording reality and art.
The exhibition at MAST in Bologna ranges from early photographs in Iraq, on the U.S.-Mexico border and in the Balkans, to the Infra project taken in the Democratic republic of Congo, from the powerful Heat Maps of refugee camps on the route to Europe to the latest works made in the Amazon forest.
116 large-format, striking images are accompanied by a critical essay by the exhibition’s curator Urs Stahel and reports by Michel J. Kavanagh, a correspondent in Cogno and Central Africa since 2004 for The Economist, Bloomberg News, The New York Times, BBC and other media outlets, Christian Viveros-Fauné, chief curator at the University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum, and Ivo Quaranta, lecturer of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bologna.
