Between 1997 and 2008, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, in collaboration with Dennis Freedman, who was creative director of W magazine for more than twenty years, created eleven photo shoots that represent one of the most ambitious editorial projects of the last decade. DiCorcia and Freedman toured the world, visiting places such as Havana, Paris, Bangkok, St. Petersburg, Los Angeles and New York. Among the locations, Lautner House in Los Angeles, the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Windows on the World, the panoramic bar of what was the World Trade Center, and a shady Parisian “club echangiste” (swingers club). The cast includes supermodels such as Nadja Auermann, Guinevere, Kristen McMenamy, Karen Elson, Shalom Harlow and Hannelore Knuts, actresses such as Isabelle Huppert and designer Marc Jacobs, as well as some people selected on the street in the cities visited. These editorials stand out for the quantity of images and the enigmatic and often mysterious stories they tell. In this volume, the services are gathered and published together for the first time. Philip-Lorca diCorcia was born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1951.
