Maude Arsenault is a Canadian photographer, artist and curator living in Montréal. She has worked in fashion for more than two decades, has three children and ‘Entangled’ was her debut monograph, published by Deadbeat Club in 2020.
Having three children and, in particular, having to raise a young woman, made her reflect on her own role and influence in the transmission of models of femininity. Becoming a mother has made her aware of all the cultural demands made on women’s bodies and roles, including already predetermined reproductive and life choices.
The question is: what image have we constructed for our children?
“I feel often trapped in the person I have been trying to be my entire life, now I stand, shaky but alive, looking away at my world as a female with the best possible hope.” — Maude Arsenault
This remastered edition keeps the same sequence and design as the original printing – long sold out – and is printed in 5 color on a special Japanese wood free paper.
