In Entrance to Our Valley the author uses her view camera with flexibility and wit, giving us carefully studied landscapes, but also domestic scenes of extreme gentleness and spontaneity.
The result is not so much a narrative as an atmosphere, the images are not descriptive of the experience but evocative.
Fridlyand, in spite of this apparent levity, clearly conveys to us the climate of the valley in which her family and loved ones are building a new home.
