WEST chronicles the rise and fall of the last great western empire in a time span from the start of the Gold Rush (1848) to the collapse of Lehman Brothers (2008).
Travelling in three long journeys through the deserts of the American West, artist and photographer Francesco Jodice reinterprets a part of our history through a visual repertoire of myths and ruins, of utopias, mirages and failures: archaeology of a present that is already past.

The volume, which accompanies the exhibition ‘West’ held at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples between 2023 and 2024, is completed by texts and theoretical contributions by Francesco Zanot, Matteo Balduzzi, Francesco Costa and Mario Calabresi.

Francesco Jodice will be at Micamera on Wednesday 21 February at 6.30 pm to talk about the book and sign copies
