“In February 2019, I entered the Rosarno camp in Reggio Calabria and carefully photographed the dwellings built by African labourers. They were in a camp provided by their employers, without any form of assistance, shelter or services.
Home tells how African architecture finds in its tradition a great capacity to adapt, especially in adverse environmental conditions, while maintaining originality, creativity and, above all, great dignity.
The concept of balance that, far from aesthetic logic, is in tune with an intimate coherent order and a harmonious unity of parts, seems to me the best response to the evidently inhuman condition in which it exists. What interests me is to show the dignity of the human being that prevails even in the cruellest and most adverse circumstances.”
