How To Raise a Hand is a body of work that stems from the artist’s discovery of a box containing 313 cut-out photographs of fingers of his father, who passed away in 2018.
The theme is, once again, very personal – as it also was for Flattened in Time and Space, the author’s first book, available here. The result, however, is completely different.
Through a series of performative acts, Vignali recounts the physical and material exploration of absence, staging an imaginary encounter with his father.
