‘Jenny Jenny’ begins with a chance encounter aboard a Berlin subway train. Here, Zielony meets an accompanied young woman, whom he immediately begins photographing at the next stop on the platform. From this moment, a long project begins that not only investigates the life of the woman, but of her prostitute colleagues and friends. The result is ‘Jenny Jenny,’ which is not really meant to be a documentary work; Tobias Zielony avoids the journalistic impulse in search of certainty and truth. For him, the authenticity of the subject is as relevant as the question of the objectivity of the photographic image; both are never without dramatic elements.

The book was published on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Tobias Zielony: Jenny Jenny’ at the Berlinischen Galerie.
