KA-BOOM è un progetto fotografico nel quale l’artista riflette sull’uso di esplosivi nel corso di interventi di ingegneria civile…
Italian photographer Andrea Botto’s KA-BOOM project is filled with photos of various controlled explosions from around Europe — building demolitions, avalanches, etc. The explosions are cool in their own right, but Botto’s more fascinated with the scene surrounding the chaos.
“I’m not a reporter,” Botto says. “My interest is not for the decisive moment like Henri Cartier Bresson said. I’m much more interested in what happens between the decisive moments.”
For example, many of his photos capture the audiences that show up to watch the demolition. In those photos, the people standing around are more prominent that the smoke and debris. Botto likes the sense of anticipation that the crowd brings and the intriguing element of people having lunch while watching bombs go off.
