Brilliant collaboration between Kessels and Sauvin, ME TV contains only eight photographs found in a Beijing market, but perfectly documents the relationship between the Chinese population and TV.
A woman in her 60s, whose name we do not know, has her portrait taken in front of her television in a pose that is always identical. The only thing that changes in the eight photographs is the sweater worn by the woman, a different color each time; the pants, the angle of the fingers placed on the living room cabinet, always the same. For all we can tell, the photographs may have all been taken on the same day.
In ME TV, limited edition of 300 copies, each of the eight prints is hand-applied to the pages, giving us the feeling of flipping through an old family album.
