In his artistic research, Stéphan Crasneanscki combines sound, image and text. Medea is no exception to this rule: the project developed during a Black Sea crossing, where he worked with his Soundwalk Collective to archive the sound material that would become the album Medea.

Crasneanscki’s photographs, taken over the course of ten years at dusk, refer to the dark aspects of the Medea myth. Endlessly refracted, the figure of the vengeful mother, Hecate, Circe’s niece, is reconstructed in fragments of a logbook that follows the myth through a region fractured by wars and powers. Medea returns, as if exhumed from the dark, embodied in barely perceptible figures, places and silhouettes.
