Stefano De Luigi, on tiptoe, like a shadow on the film set, rewrites the dynamics of an imaginary world now crystallised in a long but defined series of situations, contrasting the banality of everyday life with the climax of the erotic moment. Photographs do not describe or even tell, but elude, or more often allude.
What the images contain and mean is deliberately postponed to a later date, almost as if the function of these photos was to protect the bodies of the actors in space, and to postpone their actions in time.
The photographer’s gaze often lingers on what does not appear, what one does not expect to see.
From the text by Silvia Mazzucchelli accompanying the photographs
New edition, with the addition of some previously unreleased photos, of the book published by Contrasto in 2004
