Rione Sanità (Naples), Santa Lucia (Cosenza), Torre del Greco. There are places in southern Italy that bear on their walls and on the flesh of their inhabitants the scars of irremediable wounds. In those wounds lie the historical memory and the real face of the people who live there.
Ciro Battiloro spent days and weeks with some of them, followed them in the intimacy of their homes, with his camera and his heart. He portrayed their daily life by taking part in it.

Never an intruder, careful not to impose his presence, the author focused not so much on the aspect of marginality, but rather on the extraordinary vitality of the people he photographed. He saw new lives being born, children becoming teenagers and then parents in turn. He also had to say goodbye forever.
Silence is a Gift is about love and loneliness, life and death, pain and joy, but above all about intimacy and resistance.

On Thursday, April 11 the author will be at Micamera to talk about the project and sign copies of the book
