Liv Liberg has been obsessively photographing her sister Britt since she was ten (her sister was only six). Today, she claims she still hasn’t been able to capture her favorite model’s expressions as she would like.
The sisters play by dressing up in clothes stolen from their mother’s closet, experimenting with the various lights they find in the house (including the blue one from a sunbed!) and aping fashion sets before they even meet them in person.
The book consists of a plethora of images that unfailingly depict Britt. In the construction of the work Liv chose to order them in a sort of monthly calendar, mixing the years and composing the process of growth in a new way: after all, months and seasons are feelings. In the hundreds of photographs we find, through Liv’s gaze, Britt’s emotional time.
Without realizing it (at ten years old, she could have had no awareness of it) Liv Liberg composed an archive of what it means to grow up as sisters – one behind the camera, the other in front of the lens.
