Snowdonia is the North Wales mountain district located west of the Conway Valley and bordered on the south by the Wales Valley. Cartographer John Speed compared its topography to that of Italy, naming the place ‘British Alps’. W. A. Poucher describes Snowdonia in detail, from geographical features to weather conditions, from some dialect terms to the various routes that can be travelled. Wonderful landscape photographs of the latter are presented, taking us on a high altitude walk along immense snowy expanses. The book concludes with a detailed table showing the exposure values, filters used, and the type of film and development of each individual image, suggesting the author’s meticulous precision.
