This series of photographs revolves around one event: the demolition of a bridge in the town of Atchison, Kansas. Funch recounts the moment of the explosion through a series of cameras placed in different locations but all freezing the same tragic moment. What may seem like a trivial event in the book, however, becomes a pretext for deeper reflection. On the one hand, we see some characters remain indifferent to what happened, while on the other we are confronted with the merciless force of the explosion that invades everything and changes the landscape forever. The bridge was dedicated to the pilot Amelia Earhart, and somehow like her, who died in the early 1900s somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, we feel that something has been irretrievably lost.
