Wandering around the United States taking photographs to “feel at home without being at home”, is how Gabriele Rossi describes the process that led to the creation of The Lizard.
Gabriele’s first encounter with the States took place in 2016, during an artist residency. After his initial disorientation, the author discovered within himself a sort of compulsion to explore the vast territories of the Midwest and the American West, a compulsion that drives him on various journeys in an attempt to explore more deeply the desire to belong and the concept of ‘home’.

The result does not follow in the steps of traditional American photography’s masters such as Robert Adams and Stephen Shore: the images, suspended and elusive, form a sort of enigmatic atlas of America through the eyes of a stranger, the diary of the search for a home under legendary boundless skies.

On Thursday, February 29th Gabriele Rossi will be at Micamera to talk about the work and sign the copies
