Mühl – Bernhard Fuchs

When a river is blocked by a dam, the former appearance of life there is altered by the increasing depth of the water into something darker, which heightens my attention. This state of becoming a viewer once again is a recurring experience of a vis-à-vis the magnifies what is seen. The farther I get from the places and experiences with formative elements of my place of origin, the closer I get to wanting to approach them. Often during my wanderings, the sseing and climbing of a block of stone lends a healing resistance to thinking, because, in its strength and its calm, a kind of “eternal” darkness remains hidden.

Il fotografo austriaco Bernhard Fuchs è un eccezionale interprete, le cui immagini raggiungono una staticità e una densità artistica sorprendenti. Nel suo lavoro più recente, svolto nella sua regione natale di Mühlviertel in Alta Austria, ha catturato dei dettagli provenienti dal mondo naturale: pietre, acqua, alberi, lunghe passeggiate sotto il cielo effettuate regolarmente tra il 2014 e il 2019. L’autore riesce brillantemente nell’intento di segnare i grandi significati dell’apparentemente piccolo e senza importanza attraverso l’intensità del suo sguardo, che diventa evidente nella luce, nei colori e nelle varie enfasi ottiche.
