The Eyes Can See What The Mouth Can Not Say was the name of a zine by Jacopo Benassi and Federico Pepe showing portraits of musicians taken by Benassi during live performances at Btomic.

Btomic was an iconic, underground 70 square meters club in La Spezia, Italian small town near Genova. Imagine the touristic Italian riviera.

Btomic was run by a group of friends, including Benassi. It opened 2011 and closed in 2015 for lack of money. In the meantime it had hosted many performances and live concerts: Teho Tehardo, Jozef van Wissem, Chris Imler, Julia Kent, Mary Ocher.

In 2017 The Eyes Can See What The Mouth Can Not Say has become a photobook. There are no portraits of musicians, only people looking. Edited and produced by Giulia Zorzi, it was launched with a performance by the artist at Micamera at the opening of the exhibition.

A guy with a Sonic Youth T-shirt stands next to an older lady with glasses and a floral dress. I wonder what do they have in common?

This is a work about an aural landscape, by Jacopo Benassi, landscape photographer.
